WinMX won't DL

Hello all - i am running WinMX (www.winmx.com) and have been running it for about 3 years now. since updating the virus software (norton anti virus) on my computer last week and adding ''microsoft anti spyware beta'' i have been unable to download files. everything i try to DL does not connect ( timed out waiting for network reply ). i get this error on each file but i am connected to the internet and to the winmx network (able to search for files and queue them). i have searched for help on the website and clicked the help button on the program but have been unsuccessful in locating anything that can help me. i have also uninstalled the software and reinstalled it from a new download from the website. i am currently running windows xp and have a DLS connection. if anyone has been having problems connecting to this software or can help me try to get it to work again please let me know. i dont know if it is the winmx software or the virus protection program preventing me from connecting. thanks for your time.

 

I would try uninstalling the Microsoft Antispyware beta and see if that corrects the problem. If you have been running the WinMx program for three years along with Norton, and have only experienced problems since installing the Microsoft beta, then it tends to point toward it as the likely cause. Remember that it is a beta and that everyone that is using it is doing testing for Microsoft. I have it installed on my computer, but it hasn't caused me any problems, yet! Hope this helps.

 

Can you use any other P2P software that will download? It may be that a firewall is blocking your downloads...
