Wins Server issue

Sorry guys, normally i would research this but i am to busy and i keep getting farther and farther behind at work. I know next to nothing about about networking and out IT department has not found a solution and this is interfering
Anyways the issue i have is i connect to our remote network(assuming i am right) using cisco VPN Client version 4.6.01.0019. Once connected this give me access to our e-mail and a program called Jenzabar (sort of a record search). We also us that is some sort of filenet program. To connect to this though i must go into my network connections and enter an IP for a WINS Server. The problem is i often have to restart my computer or exit my vpn. Everytime i do i have to re-enter the IP for the WINS Server. It is aggravating. It should save automatically and i should not have to constantly re-enter it. We are running XP on our computers. If anyone can decipher this mess, does anyone have any suggestions to solve this problem?
