Hello. I used to have a WinVista system at my mother's house and enjoyed its gadgets. :) Unfortunately, they were discontinued by Microsoft due to security issues. :( Then I learned that I can still get them back on later systems, and I think I had them on Win10 but lost them again on Win11. Is there a way to get them on Win11? What are the security issues with them?

My system keeps reporting a virus, but I don't have a way to eliminate it, so I'd better pass on it for now. Thank you anyway. :)

I looked at your link but want more information. Does it have things such as Post-It-Notes? On second thought, just let me download it. Thank you.

BTW, I used to have versions of Post-It-Notes on different Windows computers but never used them. Where can I download such?

Yeah.... glad you did a scan. Sorry Harry. I do not know how much different these are but I did download and scan with Microsoft defender, and Malwarebytes, shows to be clean.

I don't know why you said I did a scan, as I currently don't have anti-virus software registered, so I can't remove the viruses. I actually used to have 8gadgetpack, but I thought it stopped working. Maybe I should try it again. BTW, will it work on Win7 as well? Also, I heard that MicroSoft discontinued them for security reasons. What are the risks? BTW, my only personal information to steal other than my works are passwords for my internet sites, so I'm not all that worried about security. :)

The only two systems I have that go online are a Win11/64 laptop at home that I take to my mother's house when I go there and a Win7/64 laptop at a day program. I need to go to my mother's house so she can get anti-virus software. BTW, what's Clamwin? I really should get modern anti-virus software. BTW, As I said, I don't think I have much information to steal. Would the gadgets still be okay?

Win 11 has built in antivirus. It is pretty good. The antivirus I mentioned was ones that still work with vista, in case you need it. Clamwin is actually pretty good even though it looks like it is from 1998, it lacks real time scanning. So all manual scanning.
If there is no info you care to lose, or be stolen, run the gadgets.

Thank you. The problem I'm having is that I don't think I can remove the viruses. :( I'd better try the gadgets. I really don't think I need them, but I used to like them. ;)

I just installed Gadgets only to find that I already had them installed. (What's the smiley for confusion?) One of the gadgets would be very useful, as it holds the last few clipboard contents, and it's more accessible than what I've been using. I also like the Post-It-Notes-type gadget but admit that I probably won't use it for now.

BTW, I like to auto-hide my task bar to increase desktop space and want to do the same with the gadgets. Once I auto-hide them, how do I get them to reappear?

Never mind: I found the option to auto-show. Now to try them on the computer at my day program--I'm leaving for there in a few minutes. :)

i tried it. I had to try to install it twice, but I got it installed. I think I'll try to download more gadgets soon. :)

I have a question: how do I download new gadgets? I see the option on a Win7Pro/64 laptop at my day program but not my Win11/64 laptop at home. I also find that the Win7 laptop displays four pages, while Win11 only three.

I have a slight issue with Gadget settings: when I enable the alignment setting, the background is also beige. When I disable the setting, the background is transparent. I want the setting to be enabled and the background to be transparent. I'd rather the background transparent than aligning the gadgets, so I'm going with that for now. :)

Another question: when I move the mouse to the right of the screen, the gadgets don't appear. I'm pretty sure I have auto-hide enabled. Maybe not. It works on my laptop at my day program, though. How do I enable the setting?
