WinXp disabled programs start up on next boot

Whenever I disable programs in msconfig, the next time I boot they become re-anabled.

 

what programs are you trying to get rid of, may have to go too services to stop them but you do not want to disable programs required to run windows

 

They are non window essential programs. such as Kodak, Window Washer. etc..It doesnt matter, they are all back on the next boot

 

Have you tried to open up programs and look around in their options for enable or disable at startup. if not have you tried removing them and reinstalling them to see if you get that option

 

Also you can try if these programs have an entry in the Startup folder under Start -> All Programs.

Also check in the scheduled tasks...

 

Try it from another user account.

Try if from Safe Mode.

See if either method works.
