Got a problem with a computer to where when you turn it on it hangs forever during the loadup splash screen with that bar that scrolls across the bottom of the Windows logo.

I've tried loading a previous restore point while in Safe Mode and that don't work. I was thinking maybe the registry is corrupt and I should load a generic registry from the Windows disc but I haven't done that yet because I'm not sure that is the problem. It doesn't give me any kind of error while it's stuck at this loading screen.

    Any ideas?

Does it ever finish loading .......if not (and assuming you therefore can't get into safe mode) ..may have to do a repair install ...

    Safe mode boots normally?

    If so, try, the following:

    Start, run, msconfig:

Check the radial button "Diagnostic mode".

    Do you boot up?

What was the last thing you did, before this started happening?
