I installed SP2 about a month ago. Since then it takes 5 to 6 minutes to turn off my computer. I click start - turn off computer and everything just sits there for 4 or 5 minutes. Then you get the question about restarting or shuting down. I answer shut down and 1 to 2 minutes later it does. When I turn the machine back on, it looks like it boots correctly. However, even though my desktop is up correctly with all the icons on it and in the system tray, and even though the hard disk light has quit flashing, it's still 2 or 3 minutes before I can start an application. What gives? Am I in some kind of memory loop? or is it waiting for some strange service to start? Help! :(

First thing to check are the services running.

Go to BLACKVIPER's and check which ones you can change.

This is only a guide and not gospel. What works for him may not for you.

Only do one service at a time, leave it for a while, then if everything is O.K do another and so on.
