winxp shutdown

Hi all, can someone please tell me how to fix my xp pro restarting every 2 hours or so. It has just started doing it for some reason,nothing new has been done to it (dont think anyway) bit hard with kids anyway its a duron on network with router & second comp. thanks in anticipation.

Its not a symptom of these viruses unless there is an RPC error, and a shutdown mesage initiated by NT/authority.

Tons of things will reboot your computer.

Is there is an error?

If no:

Right click my computer, left click properties. Click on the Advanced tab. Go to Startup and Recovery Settings, and uncheck Automatically Restart under the System Failure section.

Please report back next time it happens withe the exact error.

Adrynalyne ,Ta mate. Have just done that, dont get any error msg just reboots so will try that....... thnx

 

not exactly sure what your specific problem is, but i have a simliar problem and it was a result of having a corrupt memory stick.... got my comp manufacturer to replace the defective stick and sure enough it fixed the problem....

just a heads up that your RAM could be causing it....
