I have a Network Everywhere Wired Router fir my DSL though Bellsouth.net

The problem is i cannot get it to connect for nothing i tried resetting it manual setting it letting th CD Wizard Set it it will not connect to the internet though my desktop.
When i have the desktop and Laptop connected my laptop will be able to play Quake 3 Team Arena and thats all it does it shows that it is connected by Soeed of 100.0 MPBS but the desktop will not connect to anything and i cannot find out what to do or anything!

    The router is a NR041-WM 4PORT CABLE/DSL ROUTER.

I have not tried setting the main connections though the laptop because it will be to much trob to move the modem and wires and set it all up on the laptop.

Without the router the desktop runs just fine when i plug it in it stops!
The desktop is a HP 700MHZ Running Windows ME. it has the System Suite 5 Anti Virus and Firewall. The desktop used AOL and IE to connect to the Internet Aol just uses the DSL conenctions while IE just connect like normal.

its possible the router's ip address is blocking the desktop.
the router ip address needs to be 192.168.1.1
the desktop can be 192.168.0.1 or get dns numbers automatically.
    the lapper can be 192.168.0.2

    excellent help there

if Bellsouth requires PPOE then you'll need to set up the routers PPOE config with your account settings.

You might want to check the router's documentation on the IP addresses -- those are not the standard IP addresses.
    The standard addresses would be:
    Router: 192.168.0.1
    First client machine: 192.168.0.100
    Second client machine: 192.168.0.101
    (and so on from there....)

As kjanz suggests, the router's DHCP server may assign other IP addresses to the client machine. Run WINIPCFG on each machine to confirm that the machine is getting an IP address from the router. (Or run IPCONFIG from a DOS prompt.) If the IP address shown for the network adapter is not "0.0.0.0", the router's DHCP server is probably working as it should. To be sure, click on the "Release" button in WiNIPCFG, then the "Renew" button. If the DHCP server is working, clicking on "Release" will zero the IP address; clicking on "Renew" will request a new IP address from the DHCP server. You'll probably get the same address again.

Glad to hear that you're up and running.

I'd have thought you could use your desktop machine's printer from your laptop by setting up printer sharing on the desktop machine, and installing any necessary printer drivers on the laptop.

Once you've done that, you should be able to select the network printer from a list that also includes any printers installed on the laptop as local printers.
