My Toshiba laptop has a built in card for the wireless B. Would I benifit from upgrading to the wireless G and would I have to add a card for that or how do you do that.
    Thanks, geoark

Easy way would be to just add an external card, but you could go with something like the Intel internal 10/100 b/g card to replace your other one.

Hmmm, I highly doubt you can replace an integrated wireless in a laptop. Best bet is to buy a pc-card/pcmcia wireless g card.

As long as it is a "Mini-PCI", you can replace it. The Broadcom in my 2570us can be replaced if I want to by unplugging it under the cover on the bottom of the case and put in something like the Intel 10/100 mini-pci.

I then would have to replace my Linksys wireless B router with a wireless G router, right?

Would you benefit for an 802.11g card

As far as Internet Activities concerns you would Not benefit.

If you use the Wireless for extensive LAN Activities you Bandwidth would be 4-6 times faster.

Some Build in can be replaced, check the Toshiba Site.

Otherwise you can buy a PCMCIA 802.11g card (many are for sale for less than $20).

802.11g card needs an 802.11g Wireless source (Wireless Router/Access Point) otherwise it would work as an 802.11b card.

You can find some real world info in middle of this page: http://www.ezlan.net/Wireless_Hardware.html
