    I have a question,
    Here is the scenario...
If I setup a wireless network setup at home for my laptops and maybe hardwire the Desktop, this would mean I have a wireless network card in my laptop for matching wireless router. Say my bro sets up wireless at his house, with the same brand...
My dad lives like 2 houses down, if I go to his house with my laptop, will I be able to connect to my bros wireless router if I renew the ip? Or if I can how would I connect?

    Thanks!

    Yo D3xt3r,

You will be able to connect as long as your Laptop can recognize the internet connection, you should have no problems.

Let me know how it works out for you.

there's more to it than that. If you go from Access Point to Access Point, you'll need to know the WEP,WAP key unless he's broadcasting it (if he enabled wep or wap and he should but not broadcast the key) and possibly the SSID if he's not broadcasting it (and he shouldn't be).

Well theres also signal strength. Your gonna wanna put the router as high up as possible and make sure its not behind brick or a wall or anything. If you can get it in like your attic or somehing that would be best. Im assuming you mean connect to each others house through the laptops. You will be on seperate networks each time you connect, (IE: if your on your wireless router you wont be able to communicate with your brothers machine if its on your dads wireless router) if you want to have a single wireless network you will need a different set up.

    this

Might work, just have one wireless router at lets say your dad's house, then stick that at your house and if it can get the signal from your dads router it will boost the signal and be just like having his router in your house, you will use the same internet connection and all of the computers will be on the same network so you can file share and what not.

Its not hard but its not plain and simple either. Any questions let me know.
