Ok, I have an old (maybe 5 years) desktop wireless card made by Trendnet. Can this be used with my rebuilt system? Is there a big difference between new and old harware when it comes to wireless cards?

Without an indication of what Trendnet card you have and what your "rebuilt system" is, no advice could be offered.

A pure guess would be that the Trendnet card is a standard PCI card and either 802.11G or 802.11N. Another pure guess would be that the "rebuilt system" might have a standard PCI slot and might not. A lot of the new mainboards only have the PCIe slots now.

The other thing to consider is if the drivers are available for the Trendnet card for the OS you have.
