I have 2 HP Pavilion laptops and neither can recognize my wireless connection in my home. HP help desk couldn't figure it out, so I need help. I can connect when the ethernet cable is plugged in. As soon as I remove it the connection stops. I know the wireless router works because I have checked it with friends computers inside my home.

    Greetings, jrsmith101.

Need to know your operating system and service pack #, make and model # of your modem/router, ethernet/wireless card specs, any pertinent system information.

HP Pavilion Entertainment dv6439nr, with Windows Vista, Router is a simple D-link model wbr-1310. Not sure what other info is pertinent, I am lacking in knowledge when my problems concern computers. Sorry.

Is the wireless adapter showing in Device Manager, with no flags?

Is there a wireless switch anywhere on the machine?
