I am connected to the internet via a cable running into a wireless router. There is a main computer connected to the router, two laptops that use the wireless aspect, and one XBox360 that uses the wireless aspect. When I was hooked into this system before I was able to remove all of the other computers and game system so that I was essentially not a part of the network. I am now having trouble with the XBox trying to connect to my computer and I cannot remove the main computer and the XBox. I have it showing only the wireless router in Networks, but that is because I have hidden the main computer and XBox. I also set it up so that there is no file sharing and made my computer private so that it can not be seen on the network. These settings keep changing back though and I have to reset them everyday.

I would like to know if there is a way to completely remove myself from the loop while remaining connected to the wireless router as my internet connection. I know there was a way that I did it before but cannot remember how. There is not a connection port in the modem for an additional line, so I am wondering if there is a device that will allow me to connect both my computer and the main network computer to the modem so that I can bypass the network and have a direct connection.

Any ideas and help are appreciated!

If you have a third party firewall, specify the IP range of the home network and assign a static IP for the computer that you want excluded from the network outside this range. I haven't dealt with Windows firewall but there should be the same sort of option there also.

I am using PCTools Firewall, so how exactly do I go about doing this? Will it effect my internet speed or performance? I have been okay for today so far, except for Media Center opening every time I try to watch a movie or show online and the pop-up about the XBox 360 extender.

I apologize comperroruter, I was looking into this and RL got in the way.
Just getting back into the swing of things. Did you get this straightened out?
Another option is to go into general settings, then firewall settings, then trusted zone and clear out the IP range in that. This keeps your comps from accessing this particular comp. Leave the internet zone alone.
That controls your connection to www.
