    MY SET UP:
About two weeks ago, I had set up for me a wireless network in my home. I have an hp desktop computer, a brand new hp laptop with WiFi capability, and an old laptop for my wife's use that has a PCMIA card which allows web access. All three have Win XP; all Wireless hardware is by Link-Sys. My desktop and the laptop my wife uses are both in an office room. There are two printers; an hp officejet 6110 "all in one" which is hooked up to the desktop via USB port, and an hp 1300 laserjet which is in another room where I use my laptop, and is wireless. No problems with wireless access on any of the trhee computers, and all 3 can use the laserjet printer.

    THE PROBLEM:
Several times when I have been downloading or installing something on the desktop computer, a box has appeared which says "installing hp officejet 6100 series printer" and when I check on "Control Panel" there are two icons, one of which indicates hp officejet 6100 series, and the other is the same except at the end it says "(copy 1)" I have deleted that copy several times, and made the default printer the non-copy 1 printer. I can print to the officejet from the desktop printer.

But... My wife's computer and the laptop in the other room will not print to the office jet. When I use File/Print, The Copy 1 version is offered and it doesn't work. There is no icon that is NOT copy 1 on either of them.

For various reasons, this won't do and needs fixing, but I don't know what to do. I don't have a clue whether to reinstall in some fashion, and if so, what?... and where?

I apologize for the length of this post, but I wanted to be very clear on the problem. Personal eMails will be most welcome at conklin111@cox.net. In replying, please be pretty specific, as this is terra incognita fo0r me!

    Many thanks!

Hi Bill, I been reading this one for the last 10 minutes and just cannot get my head around what the problem maybe... WiFi networks are something I have not delved into as yet so cannot give you and constructive things to try apart from un-installing all the HP printer drivers you have and installing them again.

some info from HP in reference to removing all the drivers files so no reminents are left http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&lang=en&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c00072896

once installed again, check to make sure that all users have file and print sharing capabilities on the network.

just sorry I couldnt be of much help this time!

    Hi Bill,

I had a question for you, do you work for or are a part of Allianz Life Insurance Company??? Because I work for them to here in MN, but it shows that your in Las Vegas. Just wondering.

As for the printer issue, any problems I have had that WiFi was involved with all I needed to do was uninstall the printers from the other two computers and then from the host computer. Reinstall onto the host computer by downloading the driver from the website. Then install the same driver on the other two computers.

Leave a post and let me know if that works out for you!

    Later Bill
