I have an HP Laptop, G60-120us with vista 32bit.
Recently I got a bit of a virus or malware that I was able to get rid of by following the malware removal guide (thank you MajorGeeks!!!). When that happened I had to download all my wireless internet drivers as they somehow became either missing or corrupt during the process. It worked for awhile and now it will not, The internet still works when I plug in the ethernet cable, but If I try using wireless it will not work, keeps saying wireless assistant disabled. Tried to download the drivers again and not luck, wireless will not activate.

Does this sound like a hardware problem or maybe a bit of malware of some sort lurking around????

Once again, I thank you for any assistance.

    Hi Brian

If you didnt start a new thread in the malware forum and attach the logs after running the guide to make sure all the malware was gone, I would run the guide again and this time start a new thread and attach the logs requested to allow our malware experts to review them and see if anything is left.

If not or when you get the all clear and the wireless is still not working re-post in this thread as update it as to where you are upto and we can go from there. Its best to rule out malware as the cause in your case as you have told us you had a malware infection.

But a quick check and a thought before running the guide is.....

Any Devices in Device Manager with yellow ! marks, if so what?

Could download and re-install the Chipset drivers for your motherboard and reboot and then install the Wireless driver again, you may also if using the HP Wireless assistant (found in the menu Software - Solutions at the driver downloads link below) over the Microsoft built in one, have to unsinstall that and re-install, but before re-installing the HP Wireless Assistant try the Microsoft one out.

Your Drivers are HERE for your model Laptop and Windows version.

There are three drivers showing here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...n&cc=us&lang=en&os=2093&product=3795258#N1676. Let's hope you didn't install all three. You need to figure out if you have Broadcom or Atheros wifi chip or if you have Bluetooth.
    The program Speccy, http://majorgeeks.com/Speccy_d6358.html
might be able to tell you which if you aren't sure.
If you expand Software Solutions (5), the 4th file down is the Wireless Assistant. At this point, it would not hurt to download it again and try to re-install it.

I did try installing all three, but the bluetooth driver would not install.
