Wireless for Compaq V6000

I recently acquired a well abused Compaq V6000. I have managed to cure most of it's ills I think. The remaining one is a tough one. I am running Win7 on this system.

The internal wireless adapter does not seem to be working. The blue light on the front is on and it can see my router but cannot connect to it.
I have turned off all of the security on my router but the router still cannot see the V6000 wireless adapter. Every thing seems to say the adapter is okay and working but nothing can see it.

The device manager says it is okay, the blue light says it is okay, it can see my router but the router cannot see it.

If I plug in a USB adapter it pops right up on my router and works like a charm. My guess is the internal wireless adapter is bad even though everything says it is good.

I have been looking for a program that monitors wireless adapters. Most of them show access points but have not found one yet that will also show the wireless adapters so I can know for sure this thing is not putting out.

When you said re-install the driver I was skeptical but I had tried everything else so I did it. I uninstalled the driver in Device Manger and rebooted the system and it came up and reinstalled the wireless driver and when I started configuring the adapter and adding it to my network there popped up the parameter I had been searching for this whole time. I guess it only shows up with a reinstall of the driver. That is a drop down menu that shows "No Authentication, Shared or open". It needed "shared" I have always know this but could never find it. I guess the only time you get that is on a fresh install.

Whew! This has been a challenge I am glad you showed up!
