Suddenly my wifi ceased to work yesterday. All the other wireless devices in the house still work. I'm suspecting its a virus. I have a Thinkpad R61 and they are generally bombproof hardwear side in my opinion.
Can anyone help me to completely remove the current wireless setting in connections and create a new one?
Id also like to remove the driver for the wireless and reinstall it fresh just in case its been corrupted by something. Again i don't know how to do it. Im not sure which my wireless is either out of these hardware option

    in Network adapters

    A) Intel PRO Wireless 3945ABG network connection

    or in modems

    A) HDAUDIO soft data fax modem with smartCP
    B) Sierra Wireless Aircard HSDPA Modem

Or if anyone else has got any good ideas as to how to test if my wireless is working or not or any other ideas it would be appreciated.

Ive done all my virus malaware scans cant find anything although my laptop is now also running slowly.

I still have a LAN connection.

    Cheers

What happens when you take it to a hotspot?
This is to determine if it is a hardware or a software problem.

This tells us it is not your laptop hardware. Since other wireless devices seem to connect to your modem/router with no problem, this tells us it is not your network at fault.

So, it boils down to a software problem on your Thinkpad. You need to examine your security programs and firewall setups.

    I see:
Intel PRO Wireless 3945ABG network connection
    Sierra Wireless Aircard HSDPA Modem
Make sure the proper one is selected when you try to get on the home network.
Which did you use at a hotspot? That's the one you know works.

Since in your first post it is listed under modems, it should be removed under add/remove hardware.

Go through the settings on the router on your home network. Since it connects at a hotspot, it isn't the security programs on your computer that is the problem so it must be something on your home network that is blocking you.

You never mentioned the modem and/or router you use so I can't explain without knowing your hardware.

If you haven't changed a thing (but I hope you did) the default username is: admin
    the default password is: password

Is the firewall off in your thinkpad? Are you running XP or Vista?
