    Hi all.
I have recently moved my router to the master socket under the stairs.
I am getting lots of drop outs.
The electricity meter is in the same space.
    Could this be the problem?
    Cheers.

What do you mean by drop outs? Are you stating that you are losing connection to the router, or is it losing power then power is coming back on again at that outlet? If it is wifi disconnects, you are best to use a Access Point out in the open.

Download inSSIDer to see what your signals show, along with other access points around you, that may be infringing on your foot print.

Wireless signal shows that there is always connection but it sometimes 'hangs' when trying to open a web page then says that sfari or whatever can't open the web page as there is no internet connestion.
Never had this problem when the router was on an extension.
Only moved it as they recommend using the master socket to get maximum performance.
Just thought maybe all the electrical stuff in close proximity may be affecting it.
    I'll try the inSSIDer later.
    Cheers.

Moving it to the master phone socket can be what is causing the issue. Do a search on dsl on BRitish Telcom phone wiring. There is a tutorial out there, that describes how to fix the issue by wiring the master socket correctly.

    Interesting.
Looking at those links makes me think it is more likely to be interference form somewhere.
If it worked ok on the extension then that would mean that the master socket is fine as the extension is coming straight from the master socket.
If there was an issue at the start of the run then I would imagine that there would be an issue along any extensions.
I'll try running the app you suggested on the laptop and see what other networks are near by (I take it the app tells you what channel the other networks are on?).
Then I shall try raising the router above the fuse box and see if that helps.
If not I'll put the router back on the extension.
Thanks for your input so far.
