ok so my issue is i wish to connect my wireless to my friend, we wish to play games over a large distance without the use of the Internet, as where we live we only have dial up. we live approximately 1 kilometer away in rural Australia. so my first question is can i purchase a wireless point that will comunicate that far, does my friend also and is what is the maximum range wireless point i can purchase and run legaly

Don't quote me but i believe Lynksus make a Wireless N router that can broadcast that far with decent strength. But it's not gonna be cheap, your standard wifi has 3 channels, this wireless N router has 5 channels which allow you to broadcast at a different frequency (Also different security settings/protocols can be adjusted i believe to make this work as well). So I know this is possible but the exact details i couldnt tell ya, sorry eyeofstorms :-/
