Wireless Help

I have recently connected my laptop to my netgear wireless router and everything was running ok but the past week my computer has been running terribly slow, I have ran spyware, virus, chkdsk, and nothing seems to resolve my problem. I have also noticed that I cannot get in to edit my registry, it keeps generating an error. When I am not utilizing the Internet it seems to run slightly better. Any help would be appreciated.

 

well, even if it is not being detected it sounds like you might have a virus that is acessing the internet. Run AVG anti-virus and see if it finds anything.

I have tried all the above and still no progress, still cant get in to edit the registry, thanks for your help any other suggestions?

 

It sounds like you may have some corruption on your HD.

If you are running XP, try running the chkdsk program but run the complete test. Go to My Computer. Right click on the C drive and go to properties. Click the Tools Tab. Go down to Error Checking and click the Check Now button. check both boxes and click Start. It will tell you it has to have exclusive access and ask if it should run on the next boot. say yes and reboot.

It will take some time so be patient but it will do a complete test of your HD and try to repair whatever it finds. This has frequently speeded up computers for me that are running slow but don't have viruses.
