How fast is wireless, compared to 56k dialup? Upload, download, etc. I don't know anything about it..

Wireless is networking between your pc's and laptops, not how fast you are connected to the internet. Wireless networking comes in a, b and g format, g being the fastest, or there's the 108mb/s wireless which is a lot more expensive.
If you're comparing to dialup, then broadband or dsl internet connection would be faster (ranging from 150kb/s to 2mb/s in most cases).

    Hope that helps :)

    mmm...

I think he means for connecting to the net.

I used to be wireless. When it was new, it was easily at all times 1.5 megabits up and 1.5 megabits down. dslreports showed it actually as 1.4/1.2, which is damn good.

Once it got popular, within a year, it dropped down severely, to around 200k to 500k.

I dropped it for DSL. I now get steady 1.2/650+ all the time.

Most places tell you it will be around the speed of 256k dsl, maybe a little faster.

I have wireless internet access and love it, It comes off the top of the local grain elevator. Many rural towns now have such setups.

1.28 megabits per second last time i checked!!! :)

I loved my wireless, before everyone around me found out about it and the company wouldnt spend the money to upgrade.

    So performance went to crap.

I'm the only one in my village with wireless, so it's great! Can monitor it and get the odd person trying to hack it but there's no chance of getting through the router firewall then the server firewalls!
I'm only on 300kb/s midband so not overly fast, but the net seems to go at about 250k.
