I'm not much of a guru when it comes to wireles LAN or internet connectivity in general. I have noticed something different about my PC since last month.

My last PC worked great it was just out dated so I built a new one. Lately when I boot up the wireless connectivity icon will dispay sending and recieving packets even when I am not connected to the internet.

This really is not a problem directly but it is kind of odd to see the icon light up every 5 seconds even though I'm not accessing the internet.

Could it be spyware, or some other type of software indirectly installed on my PC that could be doing this?

Most likely it is just refreshing it's connection to the router/modem ....:)
