I want to get away from my slow very dial-up connection on the Internet. But I just can't seem to bring myself to give these big broadband and cable companies my business! I have tried to find smaller, cheaper local companies (St. Louis area) but that doesn't seem to exist. I am NOT a computer Geek - so this may be a dumb question . . . but is it possible to hook my computer up with a wireless Internet connection? I don't have a new "Super Computer". I have a Pentium 3 Dell computer. I found in my searching that there is a wireless ethernet card. Can this be put on an older computer? Or is wireless internet use too open to viruses and hacking? Thank you for any advice.

P.S. I also checked out dial-up accelerators to see what they were all about but they seem to take up a ton of memory (which I don't have) and I don't know anyone who has used them to tell me if they are any good.

i used a dial up accelerator..it wasnt THAT much faster...and any websites that had pictures...they were all scrambled and looked like crap...i uninstalled it...where i live, there is no high speed or cable internet available...so wireless sounds like a good option! tell me how to do it!
