Hi! New to forum and forums in general.

I have Windows XP Professional on my laptop, and I'm networked with my desktop... Wired only but I'm trying to go wireless on my laptop... The first card I bought on Ebay... Netgear wt511 and it didn't work... so I returned it and bought a different one... It's doing the same thing and it's new... So It's obviously my laptop or windows XP.
I bought tp-link systems' tl-wn510g. It's supposed to be compatible with Windows XP but the driver is not signed by Windows (neither was the netgear by the way). I install it as per operating manual but the wireless symbol never comes up on bottom.
When I pull up devices the card is there but there is a problem with resources.
Nothing seems to work... Thanks in advance!:eek:eek:cry

It would be easier to help if you shared the specifics of the "problem with resources."

Do you have a wireless router? and is it setup to do wireless?

Well, specifically, it is code 12.
"This device cannot find enough free resources it can use."

Yes, I have a wireless gateway with 4 port hub. I have previously set it to wireless on.

Oh, and by the way, it is a pcmcia card.

Is 'zero wireless configuration' enabled in services. It will be in Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services.

YES! I think we may be on to something... The wireless zero config. is on automatic startup... BUT it just displays "service status: started" then "service status: stopping" intermittently. I believe in sync with the intermittent hourglass when I open up tp-link's client utility.
Thanks for your reply... More information needed. I really don't know what wireless zero config. does... I shall look it up in windows help.

zero wireless configuration is XP's own service for wireless PCMCIA cards. Personally what I do is 'disable' this service and install the wireless card's own driver.

Also if you have installed the PCMCIA card's driver and not disabled ZWC then these 2 drivers will clash and you will not be able to get the card to work under any circumstance.

    Good luck

confusedWell... I did that with some very small results... But it's something... The little hourglass saying the the cpu is busy when I open the tp-link client is gone. It did previously alternate "busy" "not busy".. But everything else is the same. Client program doesn't respond. I can access the help icon so I will check that out some more.
    Thanks again.
