    Hello,
I have a Linksys wirless router and am using the satelite computer. The speed is usally around 24-36Mps and signal stength says excellanet, while the internet speed and downlaod times are great I notice that when playing on-line games it will freeze eery minute or so. I say freeze and not lag becuase nothing slows down, it stops completly like I disconnected for a moment and then will restart again. It is not running at a slow speed either the ping is around 30-60 on most good servers witch is great for me. What can I do about this problem?

    Thanks for the help,

Does this only happen when playing games? What OS are you running and what other tasks are running? Virusscan? Spyware stuff?

what kind of wireless card are you using? I have found that for gaming, USB wireless adapters freeze up in most cases.

If you dont have any PCI wireless cards and would like some, I have some I need to sell for cheap. Personally, I got tired of the high pings with wireless and bought 100ft cat-5 cables;)

Hi, I wonder if this problem occured before the router? My understanding is satellite connections add a minimum 1 second lag to games and are considered a bad way to play online in games where seconds count. Recently, when in Florida, the satellite connection seemed to go up and down and spit and sputter a lot in the hotel.

Anyhow, there may be a lot of possibilities otherwise, you may need a bandwidth monitoring tool to try and track it. Our internet tool section, maybe monitoring, has some tools to watch bandwidth a bit. I would try and upload and download files and see if you get the same lag. I had some lag problems one time using the XP firewall, which I didnt even know was on. Worth a look.
