Wireless mouse - jumping curser

I've had my wireless mouse for about three months and like it a lot. But the curser frequently jumps to one of the corners of the screen. It is not terribly bothersome but it is annoying. I tried placing the base closer and farther from the mouse but that doesn't seem to make any difference.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

when it does that, just raise the mouse off of the mouse pad or whatever you're using and tilt it sideways and wait for the red light to dim. this is an easy fix for that. i have that happen to me a lot.

Re-installing the mouse driver and/or running the system file checker also works well for this type of problem.

How long does your fix last, padams?

for me it usually lasts for several hours. I believe that my mouse problem stems from growing up using the good old ball mouse. Without realizing it i think i pick the mouse up slightly when i move it around due to my old mouse moving habits and that i think is what makes the cursor jump to the corner of the screen.

Sweet. I've never tried that one before...heh, could help me in situations where I can't fix the software immediately.

I'll give this a try - if it persists I reinstall the driver like Mada suggested.

You're right about learning something new all the time. I've been saved from going nuts or having a tirade on several occasions!!!

My parents had this issue with their Dell system. I installed the ResourceCD and discovered that a file was available to update the USB2 drivers which was supposed to resolve this type of problem. I installed it and it looks fine now. Check your software to see if something of this sort is there. . .

Would you elaborate on "the Resource CD"? Is this the one used to install the driver, or what?

    Thanks!
