    Hi,

I've been keen to improve transfer rates between my laptop and desktop over wireless... mainly so i can stream 1080p to my tv, or to my laptop if i'm in bed.

I'm currently getting 5-7mbps in real transfer speeds (according to windows 7) which seems enough to stream high def with no stuttering etc, but is still not ideal for moving files across my network.

I've already switched the router to 40hz, made access exclusive to 'n' devices and hard wired my desktop to the router via ethernet just to get these speeds. I've also used tcp optimizer which seems to have done little to help. I've also gone from a cordless to a corded phone and changed to a channel that my neighbors aren't using. Still no better.

    Any suggestions?? :confused

    Thanks, Pete

Have you tried changing the channel on the router? It sounds as though you are experiencing interference.

    Yep. ran cmd:

    netsh wlan show networks mode=bssid

and my neighbors are on different wifi channels (i know the fact that they have wifi on any channel can interfere, but i thought it'd be rude to make them switch theirs off).

The router's nowhere near any devices that would interfere either.

What's is a good 'n' transfer speed? I mean, actual transfer speed that would show when moving files?

    (thanks for your help btw)
