    XP Pro
    SP2
    Broadband Wireless Gateway (Actiontec)
    D-Link DWL-G510 Wireless Card
    Also have onboard Ethernet

Ever since I installed the D-Link Card my CPU usage is at or near 100% all the time. I have both the onboard and Dlink enabled. I am using Windows to configure my wireless network not the D-Link utility.

When I disable the wireless card in device manager CPU usage seems to go back to normal.

I have run virus scans and anti-spyware but nothing found.

I could not find an updated driver on D-Link's site.

    Any suggestions?

When you have the wireless card active what process is taking up the most of your CPU? Go to your task manager and check under the processes tab.

i have since returned the card but the process by far that was eating up the most resouces was svchost.exe.

I tried uninstalling D-Links utility, I switched PCI slots and no luck.

    I have since returned it.

To me it has been always better to run the drivers and utilities that comes with any new adapter. Although windows XP does have drivers for wireless I never use them. Also svchost.exe is used primarily to list all the services needed at startup. I also disabled my built-in Ethernet. Its easily done in Device managers. One thing you can look at is in the dos prompt (cmd) type
"tasklist /svc" and it will list services running under each exe or dll.
