    Hi guys,

I have a problem I have never come across before nor could I find any help on the net.

I can see my little wireless computer connected to the internet at the bottom right hand corner of the screen and the net works fine but as I double click on it ..it opens my current wifi connection, however when I click on ' view wireless networks' it shows nothing. Not even my own network. Its completely blank. Its a big problem when I need to connect to other connections apart from mine and as a result I cant get wifi internet away from home.

Thx in advance for any help.

PS: My laptop is Compaq 8710p, Windows XP 32bit, 2.5 Ghz processor & 2GB ram.

Hello Thank you for your help. I did that but there is no change, only that now I cant not see the little computer connected. It has a red cross on it ( not connected I assume) however the internet is till running!

Do you have another symbol in the right hand corner, perhaps one looking like a little fan? What kind of wireless card does your laptop have?

go to START > CONTROL PANEL > NETWORK CONNECTIONS and right click on the wireless network device and select PROPERTIES. It should tell you the type of network card in the top box.
