I am having intermittent disconnection issues on my laptop, this has become a problem shortly after upgrading my cable modem to a Broadband Phone model and buying 2 new cordless phones. My laptop keeps disconnecting every 30 minutes or so and esp. if I use the phone. I must then hit "repair" and it connects again. I have read up alot on this issue reguarding routers and phones with 2.4 ghz phones and have tried several things. Such as putting space between the router and phone, switching channels on the router from 6 to 11 and also 1. Updating firmware and driver for router and wireless wlan card in laptop. Here is where i'm stumped tho. I have a broadcom 802.11b/g wlan card in my laptop and a belkin wireless g desktop card in my desktop. On the desktop i have not had one disconnection yet but on my laptop i have. I have also never had this problem until i got the broadband phone and cordless phones. I also have no problem when connected with a hardwire. Someone please help. Here is what i have:

Near as I know there are two types of 2.4 Ghz phones. One causes issues, one does not. If you have the kind that does interfere, no firmware will help you. Probably the easiest thing to do is either borrow a corded phone (yes people still have those. ;) ) unplug all the 2.4’s and try it. You’ll know in a hurry.

BTW -- The 5.8 Ghz will not cause any issues at all.
