    Hi all,
I have already posted this in the networking forum and nobody seems to be able to help me! Look at the following link to see my problem
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=73808
Thought that it may be spyware or something so Ive attatched a HJT log to see if any of you guys can help me with it.

I couldnt do most of the steps in the read me first as I have no internet, so no online scans and no updates :(

Thanks in advance for the help!

I have tried doing my own analysis of my HJT log and the only line I can see that may be causing me a problem is this one:

    O10 - Unknown file in Winsock LSP: c:\program files\bonjour\mdnsnsp.dll

Does anybody know what this does?

Sorry for not being patient and waiting for a response but I need my laptop for work and I have been trying to solve this problem for about 2 (very long) weeks!

    See this: http://castlecops.com/lsp-183.html

It's part of you Itunes. Please do not post HJT logs without them being requested and without running the READ ME FIRST sticky. However you show no malware problems. I would suspect you have something in your network misconfigured. Perhaps you did not define your network addresses and IP range to a firewall that may be part of your router.

Your description of your problem is a little confusing do to the jumbling of three PCs into one paragraph. It sounds like from your image that you have four PCs connected to your router and one of them (the one with IP = 192.168.1.2) can connect to your internal network but not to the internet. Is that correct. Also this PC is a wireless connection. Is that correct?

Is it using the correct channel and are all settings corect for encryption etc?

    Have you tried other borwsers?
Have you tried to ping to the internet?
Have you tried using IP addresses rather then URLs to connect?

    Hi,
Sorry for posting the HJT log without being asked, but I couldnt do 90+% of the read-me first because I have no internet and reading through other threads most of them were asked to post a HJT log after the READ ME so I thought I might take the initiative and save a post. Obviously I was wrong and so lesson learned.

Yes sir, all of the above are correct.

I have no encryption or firewall and it using the corect channel.

I have tried using firefox and IE. Neither work.

I tried to ping google.com and got an error message saying couldnt find host make sure name is typed correctly.

I have not tried using IP to connect instead of URL as in the bottom left of IE it say trying to connect to xx.xx.xx... (cant remember exact numbers)

The only other thing I think to do is this www.xp-smoker.com/freeware.html
but Im not sure what it does exactly and I do not like to run things when I do not know what they do.

I know this isnt a spyware problem so thank you very much for your help and again sorry for posting HJT log.

You should still try using an IP address rather than a URL. If the IP address works and the URL does not, it would mean a possible problem in the DNS stack.

Use 66.102.7.147 to get to www.google.com.

Are you sure your router does not have a built-in firewall. Also note the WinXP SP2 has a firewall that is on by default.

XP-Smoker is just trying to repair a broken LSP chain or TCP/IP stack which does happen sometimes. Often a broken LSP chain will show in HijackThis in the O10 section.

XP-Smoker is similar to XP TCP/IP Repair

Hey chaslang I tried that tcp/ip repair link you posted and it worked, internet now connects!
Is there any reason why this happened? Anything to avoid in the future?
Thanks again for all your help!

Not sure what cause your problem but it sounds like something corrupted your TCP/IP stack. Possibly a power outage or improper shutdown of some sort?

Happy to hear that you got it working now? I guess you should have come here two weeks ago! :D Even though not a malware issue,. I'm happy we got you working again.

I wish I had come here two weeks ago!

There should be a sticky on MG front page, something along the lines of:

"For ALL computer issues ask Chaslang" :p

Thanks again and keep up the good work!
