    Hey everyone,

So i've narrowed my problem down to just one computer, but it's a weird problem

I got a new router, a DLINK AC1000 dual band cloud router. It's in my livingroom, about 60 feet away from my studio with my laptops and printer. It doesn't have line-of-sight, but it does have an unobstructed path to the room.

I have 2 computers in the studio. One (HP netbook) runs great in the studio, as does the HP wireless printer. I run speed tests all the time and the HP netbook gets a great signal in the studio, around 15mbps down. My main computer is a Toshiba Satellite A505 with a Realtek RTL8191 Wireless LAN card. It doesn't get the best reception in the studio, sometimes it's 1mbps down, sometimes it's 15. but here's the weird part....

When i run a speed test on the Toshiba, if i'm sitting at the laptop (inbetween the wireless signal and the computer) it goes SO incredibly slow. Then when i move out of the way it goes back to normal. I can walk in front of the computer over and over and every time it slows to a crawl when i'm near it.

So in other words, i can't sit at my laptop and have any kind of signal. I click on a web page, and it hangs there, and as soon as i walk away it loads. At first i thought i was nuts, but after doing well over 100 speed tests, and watching it go up and down, up and down, as i move in front of the laptop.... well i'm not crazy.

For the record when i use the netbook (sitting right next to the laptop) and i'm sitting in front of it, no noticeable decrease in speed. On the laptop, it jumps from less than 1 to 15 and vice versa whenever i move.

Please help! I don't get it.

That was the driver I was using when I first got the router. I updated the driver twice hoping that would fix the problem, but it didn't.

Right now i have version 2021.0.203.2012 (which isn't on the toshiba site for some reason).

And for the record, the wireless card doesn't drop out, it stays connected and everything seems fine. It says i have an "excellent" connection, and inSSIDer shows me the router is putting out a great signal in the studio.

also, if it matters, my galaxy II doesn't get reception in the studio either. And 60 feet doesn't seem like it's too far for the signal to reach.

    So far:
    HP Netbook: Excellent
    HP Wireless printer: Excellent
    Toshiba Satellite: Horrible
    Galaxy II: non-existant
