i recently brought 2 wireless network cards,Texas instrument Addon 802.11g 54mps ADD-GWP100, when the network card is installed and i try to run the wizard it doesnt detect the card or its drivers, and when i try and add hardware it calls the network card a unknown device, it wont let me update drivers i can only disable it and if i try and uninstall it says that it is a critical device and windows cant start up without it, but it isnt a crital device, even if i tell it to run the drivers from the driver cd it still says it cant find drivers and theres no device installed, i tryed searching for drivers of the net but had no joy. when i installed the drivers and utility from the cd on the utility screen it says the drivers arent loaded, can anyone help plz?

I would manually browse to the folder on the cd rom that came with this NIC and look for the xp folder.

    Ya thats a good chance...As a final resort I would check driverguide.com

    Username:drivers
    password:all

Go in and see if you can find an XP driver for this NIC card

If you can't seem to find one on this site or on Texas Instruments site directly there is a good chance it might not work with XP.

Let me know how you do

    Thanx,

    Trippy

A few things. first just go into device manager and delete the card, uninstall ALL software related to the card. Then power off remove the card, power up install the software (this should install the drivers). Then power off reinstall the card and its should find the drivers and software needed. Most wireless cards I have installed and I have installed quite a few other than Cisco requires the you install the software prior to installing the card. That may not be the case here, but form my experiance that is how they normally are. I hope this helps.

I have just experienced problems with this card myself.... and I'm not sure whether it is self-inflicted or Microsoft-inflicted.

In reference to the above advice, the card has an XP driver which works just fine. The advice on installation is also as you have noted; install driver, shutdown, install hardware and restart. I've used the card on XP 32-bit for a year with no problems.

However, I have just upgraded to XP64 and I've got problems. It's either because the drivers I have aren't gonna work on XP64 or because I installed the hardware before the software (forgot to read the manual, hmmm). I've uninstalled the device, rebooted, installed software, shutdown, installed hardware and restarted... and the device manager is picking it up as an 'Unknown Device' 'Network Controller' (which it is clearly not).

Anyone know whether the driver is 64-bit compatible, and if not, where I could get one from? It seems to share a Texas Instruments chipset for 802.11g cards - is there a generic 64-bit driver lurking somewhere???

Any help much appreciated, don't fancy shelling out on a new Wireless LAN card... :(
