Wireless Networking with XP... HELP!

Hey guys,
I have a wireless networking niggle. I'm using windows XP and a Netgear MA101 adapter. When XP's Wireless Zero configuration service is running Windows sees my network, but I can't connect to it. I type in the WEP and SSID and it says it can't connect. I can connect using the utility that came with the NIC as long as Wireless Zero Configuration service is stopped, but if its running it won't connect. This is fine but it means i need to stop the service everytime I startup the pc and then configure the utility which I'd rather not do. SO, what am I doing wrong with the windows wireless utility? Does it need information other than the SSID and WEP? Hope someone can help!

The best way to go about this would be to go into "network connections" in the control panel. Right click your wireless network and choose properties. Find the setting that says something like "let windows manage your wireless connection" and clear the checkbox. This should let the utility that came with your wireless card to manage the connection.

 

If the service still does not stop when you ask it not to manage your wireless connection, you can right-click on "My Computer"> click manage> click Services> Open the service and set it to disable, which should stop it from running at startup, rather than just stopping it during the current session.
