I have a Dell Dimension 4550 with XP sp2 installed. My nightmare began when I attempted to connect to my Dlink DI-624 wireless router via a desktop network card. Prior to installing the card the router was hardwired to my PC. I purchased the Dlink DWL-520 card and spent over 3 days and 8 hours on the phone with tech suport attemptingto gain a connection. The last tech I spoke with advised me to buy a different brand network card. I replaced the 520 with a different 520 then made a final attempt to stay with a dlink product by purchasing a DWL-AG530. I was unable to connect 90 percent of the time and the other 10 percent could not stay connected. Following the techs advise I purchased a Belkin F5D7001 PCI card. Installed as directed....... same problem either I cannot connect or the connection I do obtain is @ 5.5 mb and it does not stay connected for very long. However I have no problem connecting with my Laptop from work. The modem is a Toshiba PCX1100. I believe the issue is between the router and the PC because of the laptops ability to connect. I cannot seem to get any help with this.. Dlink now says call Belkin, Belkin says call Dlink. My service provider is just clueless all together. Any ideas? Currently the firewalls (Norton Is 2005 & Windows) are off. I am not a "geek" but do not require Networking for Dummies either. The wireless network I set up for my Mom works fine.... go figure.

If your Wired PC works well with the Internet your ISP has nothing to do with this situation.

Might be that the capacity to logon in work is the problem. I.e. the Wireless is configured for a Domain logon or similar arrangement and can not be configure correctly for peer to peer LAN.
