wireless not working

PC Clone with Win XP Pro (3)

Modem: Westell ADSL 2+ router

Wireless: Netgear N300 Wireless Gigabit router WNR3500L

IO Gear USB Hub 7 port

I was using my computer online, stopped for short period, computer was left on. When I resumed I got error message that I was not connected to internet. Taskbar displayed wireless not connected, cable unplugged.
I had to take modem out of system and plug directly back to computer to get back on net.



System connections set up:

To Computer -
IO Gear USB 7port
Computer power cord
Keyboard (to USB port)
Headphones

To USB 7port -
USB splitter (with 3 flash drives)
Printer
Mouse
D-Link wireless router

To Westell modem -
Ethernet cable
Power cord
DSL line

To: Netgear Wireless Router
Ethernet cord
Power cord

I started to troubleshoot with Netgear, but that is a lengthy process and after providing the detailed information I cannot connect with their support, I get only a blank white screen.
The unit was purchased May 2011.
