Hi, I am new here. Can anyone help me out with this problem:

My laptop won't connect to wireless internet network at home. It used to work, but it suddenly stopped yesterday. I can still see my network in the "Connect to" list, but a message indicates:

"The savings saved on this computer for the network do not match requirements of the network"

I haven't changed anything in the configuration, and already checked the TCP setting. Everything seems to be all right.

The laptop also connects to my college WiFi without any problems, so it made me think the problem is the home wireless network. I have a desktop connected by ethernet, on which internet works, but in my settings, I see the hotspot is disactivated due to low upload debit. I have checked it, and it's at 120kbps, whreas download is at 1000kbps.

What can I do to improve the upload speed?

There is noting you can do to improve your upload speed. It is standard practice for home broadband users to have an upload speed of roughly 1/10th their download speed.

As for the non-connecting laptop, what operating system are you using?

Are you getting a radio connection but no ip address? or are you unable to connect even the radio signal?

If your router/access point has never been secured, it's possible somebody inadvertently set up security on it thinking it was their own network (not an unusual occurrance in high density areas).

Log into the router using your hardwired PC and look at the security settings, make sur ethey still match what you think they should be. If you never set any security such as wep, wpa, or mac address filterig, look to see if any of these have been turned on (and if so, that would confirm my earlier suggestion)

If so, your best bet is to reset security to something that makes sense for your situation, and configure your wireless pc to match.

The os is Vista 32bit. I have a security key , so I don't think someone set a password for my connection.

I think the problem is the IP, since when I try ipconfig, all devices are disabled and no IP. WiFi card is working properly on the computer, I checked it.

What can I do if it is an IP problem?

if ipconfig is telling you that all devices are disabled, that's your likely problem. Go to network settings and double-click your wireless adapter. Barring some hardware or driver failure, this should re-enable it.

When I double click on the "Wireless Network Connection" - which is not connected, in Network Proprieties, it brings me to the "Connect to a Network" window, and again "the settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network".

Could you be more specific about how to procede please?
