    Hi

    I need help here-
I re installed my operating system XP Proffesional and after doing my
normal connecting up with ethernet etc..found it would not install my wireless
    connection?
Mine is an aerial that screws into the back of the tower.

Any ideas-it just wont pick it up?:confused

Make and model of wireless device (with aerial) that is on the computer?
We can't find the driver if we don't know what you are using.

Have you re-installed the software for the device? Since, as far as I'm aware, no desktop comes with an aerial on the back, I suspect you installed something.

    Greetings, ref5139.

Maybe we can figure out what you've got:

What's the make and model # of your machine (please include any Service Tag #s)?

Also, please download and run Speccy, a free system information tool.

When the scan completes, click 'File', 'Save as Text file', name the report, and save to an easily found location, such as your Desktop.

Be advised: the report will display your IP Address and Windows Product Key. You may delete this information if you so wish.

Then attach that file to your next post per these instructions: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post.

Your report is showing the following:

WinInet Info: An internal error occurred.
    Wi-Fi Info: Wi-Fi not present.

Unfortunately, that's not helping with what to do about it. Is there any way you can supply any additional info? Is the device showing at all in Device Manager? If this is a PCI card, can you physically pull the card, see if there are any model #s, FCC #s, etc.?

Or it might be far easier to buy a USB wifi dongle (it will come with a disk) and install that for the one that is not working and you have no disks for the model.

Thanks to all Ive sorted my problem out_

Due to a 'strange' update from Microsoft it would not let me re install my driver.

    Sorted now.
