Wireless problems

I have an actiontec wireless DSL modem. On my laptop I keep getting disconnected from the net, same with my PS3. Do I need a new modem or could I have some type of access point or something to extend my wireless range? Where I am using my laptop and PS3 I get about 40-50% signal.

First thing to check is the channel. I have had good luck with 11. Next, look for high gain antennas, work wonders for me.

I am assuming a linksys router?

I got mine at a local Staples, most stores who sell computers sell these. CompUSA, Staples, BestBuy, etc.

Like cell phones, all this technology and these things can still be flaky.

It's an Actiontec GT701WG

How do I change the channel? Sorry if thats a stupid question.

Typically you go to your web browser where the router is wired and type in an ip address, it is in your manual, I am not familiar with that brand, sorry
