wireless router help????

    hey guys i got a network everywhere brand wireless router works find for the odd brand (it was a gift). but the problem is distance i would like to take my laptop out to my work shop and be on the net from my house to my shop is about 550ft .also the router is setup next to my desktop with dsl anyway to get more distance from it......

    Some routers you can add/change the antenna for a high gain directional antenna, which can give you more distance, and shoot the signal in a specific direction (such as a yagi antenna). Even with the right antenna though, you may still have a problem if your router is not putting out enough power.

    For the distance you mentioned however, I would recommend using a top end access point connect to a router. To over come that distance, you would need something like the Cisco 1200 wireless access point, using a directional antenna.
    However, now your talking about $1000.
