Hi! I am a new member. I hope someone can help me.I am a college student but because I work full-time I take online classes. I bought a new dell and wanted a wireless network for my laptop. I changed cable service and they said they were not allowed to help me with my wireless router. It is a Trendnet router. Can anyone help me to hook it up? I called Dell and they will not help me either. They were rather rude to say the least.I really need the wireless for my laptop for my studies.:) I have tried everything.....

Hi LadyDy2009 and welcome to MGs.
You should do the initial set up by using a ethernet cable and then go wireless.
    Some possible problems include -
Having 2 wireless connection apps running. Only 1 should control the wireless connection.
    Firewall not configured correctly.

More information would be helpful if you still cannot connect.
    Type and model of modem.
Model and version of Trendnet router.
Model of Dell laptop and Operating system.
Any anti-virus, firewall or security suite software installed.
What have you tried and any error messages that were displayed.
Someone will be along to help you out.

Yes, all that information would be needed to know exactly how to help you, but basically; You need to use an ethernet chord to directly connect to your router from one of your computers to set it up. The basic configuration cannot be done wirelessly. And if you said you are using a cable internet provider, you need to have a Cable modem connected to your cable outlet, and then have that modem hardwired into your wireless router. Just making sure we had that basic setup. But yes, with help with the setup we need to know everything stated below about your router. Or just contact me on AIM if you want live help.

Hi.The thing is I had the wireless set up before I changed cable and internet service to another provider. Everything was fine. They came to install and would not set it up the way it was. I tried to set it up the way it was many times and it just does not work. I don't think there are any wireless connection apps running but I am not sure. I will check on that.

Hi. I had the router plugged to the modem and then the PC into the router with proper cord.Everything was fine until services changed.Could it be something I must configure in the PC itself? I would not let the service men touch my PC.

First connect with a cable directly to the Modem and make sure that the service works.

If it does not work, then since you do not have a Router in between the Cable service's support must help you even if it means that they have to come to your house.

Once it works do this, http://www.ezlan.net/broadband.html

My new cable company stated when they were here that they are not allowed to help customers set up wireless. Everything was okay until I switched cable service for faster internet for my college classes. Thanks anyway though.

Scientific Atlanta modem2100,trendnet 11g wireless router,TEW-432BRP.Dell Vostro 200. Until I had to change cable services for faster internet everything was fine with the wireless. I would not allow cable workers to configure anything. All firewalls the same as before. Nothing different.Wireless not does not work on PC or Laptop.Wireless router less than one year old.
