I have the same problem. Before I can help you, I need some info.
    What wireless router?
    What kind of computer?
Whats the distance to your room?
What kind of walls are in the way?

    simple steps:

make sure the router is as high as possible in the room it is in, and the antenna are perpendicular to the ground.

if your wireless adapter has an antenna, the same goes for it.

if your computer is under a desk of somewhere enclosed, you may consider a desktop antenna extender as those sometimes help.

if these fail to work, try switching the broadcast channel on the router. Default is 6. 11 works very well also, then 12.

what is your network setup. the internet comes in...then where does it go. i assume a router, a wireless one. unless you have an ad hoc network, (pc to pc, without a router). if you tell me what kind of router you have, we might be able to find out if it can take an external antenna.

    here are some suggestions...

if possible, move the Router and 2.4ghz phone as far away from each other as possible.

try changing the channels on the router to 1,6,or 11, as those are the most ideal channels and have the least interference from the phone.

phones work on a frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS), and routers use Direct Sequence spream spectrum, so the phone doesnt have a 'channel' since it jumps around. http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/tutorials/print.php/2191241
