My streaming radio keeps buffering constantly when I have my wireless security on. When I turn it off, so my wireless is open to everyone, there are no problems. As long as I have my firewall on my computer is there any threat to leaving my wireless open?
I really don't care if other use it, I just want to make sure my computers are protected.
    Thanks

It is far preferable to block intruders. Imagine an intruder gaining access to your ISP connection via your wireless connection, and then engaging in illegal activity. You really don't need that particular headache. In your case, when listening to music, it might be preferable to use a wired connection, thus preserving your security. :)

Agreed, it is good to have the security. Check your firmware version, it could be a bug that has been fixed. You may also be able to compromise a bit. Some devices have processors that are a bit under powered for the better encryption levels, so if you are running WPA and AES, you might back down to 3DES and see if that helps. If your device only does WEP, the security is not good anyway, you could either upgrade the device, or consider DES and MAC address filtering, won't keep off a dedicated person, but does provide a compromise of some security and could fix the streaming.
