I dont know how but now my wireless usb adapter wont go on when i put it in. also it wont show up in the Network Connections. All the other usb things work fine. i tried reinstalling the driver, didnt do a thing. I decided to go to you guys and see if i can get it to work.

the adapter is a Linksys USB Adapter With Speed Booster
i use the Wireless Zero Config.

    Hello...
Have you checked that the Zero Wireless Connection is started in the services?

    >Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tool's > Services.
Somewhere at the bottom of the list you should see the service for Zero Wireless Connection, double click & check to see if it's STARTED & on AUTO.
    ;)

its on and its on Auto and ive always used the Wireless Zero Config. i forgot to tell this part but the internet just stopped working on it so i figure i needed to repair it so i did the repair and got stuck on "disabling wireless adapter" part and it sat there. i didnt know what to do so i restarted the computer then when i got back from restarting it it didnt work or show. maybe thats where i screwed up?

Have you checked the Log On tab within the Zero Wireless Config. setting's to see if the Profile is on. (not 100% sure if this matters or not).
    Or check...
    Control Panel > Sytem Setting's > Advanced.
Got to the HARDWARE tab then click the DEVICE MANAGER.
Check NETWORK ADAPTER'S to see if the card in question is active... double click it & see if it tells you this, if not use the drop-down at the bottom of the window to ENABLE it then click O.K.
If that doesn't work right click the adapter icon & update driver.
This will take you to the driver wizard... there you can install the dll. automaticly or choose from a specific list.

I hope this of use to you. :)

If you re-open the device manager & click the view option at the top have you got a setting that says "Show Hidden Device's"? If you have click it then re-check the net. adapter's to see if it has appeared & then try the forementioned.
Other than that all I (myself) can suggest is re-installing the Wi-Fi software from disc. Sorry if none of this could help you. :(

Subsequently you could try another fellow geek, they may have more answer's.
The U.S geek's should be up for a while still, I live in the U.K & it's well past my bed-time now... Lol :zzz

nope, sorry nothing is helping. like i said above i restarted it when i was trying repair the adapter got to disabling adapter and i restarted it when it was at that stage. also i remember that it came back once but the adapter didnt work.
    ive even tried the following:
    system Restore
F8 - Last known good config
F8 - safe mode (with and without networking)

none of those seem to get to work.
oh and also the internet security does show the adapter.

To err is to be human... (Err) :(

The only thing I can suggest is to Re-enter safe mode, remove the faulty driver in question & re-install the same driver straight from original disc source. Other than that I'm pretty stumped... :confused
You could seek another geek... Look for a seinior, I'm sure they'll know more than I do. Sorry I couldn't be of service to U. :(

that is strange.have you tried it with kaspersky disabled?don'thave to be too long either.alternatively they have a ''help'' forum.might work with you.found on the GUI at bottom is support that should give up
either the lab to open a ticket or their forum.just a thought.

So does it work in another USB port? (is it the adapter or the port that's the problem?)

the adapter side is the problem i just lift a tiny bit and it works

I do know how long this prob. has been going on but by the looks of the amount of thread's left it's been quite a while.
At the start of you query you say when you move the adapter itself you get a response.
Satrow has already pointed out you may have a faulty U.S.B port... Try using another one. (High speed/Powered)
