Wireless utility that saves static IP in the profile

We are rolling out a new wireless network in my office and we now need to use a static IP when connecting to the wireless. We use Dell Lattitudes and Lenovo ThinkPads. This is not an issue for the ThinkPads since the Access Connections utility is smart enough to set the wireless connection to a given static IP, however for the Dells this is not the case. Does anyone know of a utility like Access Connections that will assign a static IP to only be used when the wireless is being used and not hardwired?

Out of curiosity, why are you using static IPs for your wireless?

 

I am told it is for better security. Our parent company set up all the access points and mailed them to us. It is a pain since most users can't remember how to set a static IP or can't remember what IP they should use. That is why I am searching for this miracle utility. Access connections from Lenovo is actually really good with this. In the profile you can set what IP you want to use and when you connect it sets your wireless to the given Static IP.

 

Sounds like it could cause quite a bit of confusion. Hope you get it worked out. I don't know of anything to recommend to you though other than different ways to promote a secure wireless environment, sorry. Good luck

 

Something like winips, or any of the other profile net switcher programs out there.

 

Without knowing what hardware is used, and whats provide the IPs it is impossible to answer.

BTW, If you can live with Wireless static IPs, why should not it also apply to the Wire?
