Did you check the cable to make sure it hasn't gotten pulled loose from the computer? Can you try the mouse on another computer?

yeah i tried it on my ps2 and it didnt work (which it did on there before also). now my keyboard isnt working. i tried system restore and that didnt help. ive unplugged it plugged it back in, reinstalled the drivers, rebooted, reset the mouse and troubleshooted but said it was working fine. the connection light on my keyboard blinks rapidly and it shouldnt blink at all. it uses generic drivers cause creative doesnt have drivers for vista.

    Again,
You've had both mouse and keyboard connected to PS/2 ports, right? Are you sure you had them connected to the right port?

im pretty sure, ive done it before. the mouse and keyboard are connected to the same sensor that plugs into USB port

Now, you're saying the mouse and keyboard are USB devices. So, why did you previously say, "... yeah i tried it on my ps2"?

What make and model are the mouse and keyboard? Did you buy them together, as a package? Do they each plug into a USB port? In other words, you need two USB ports for them?

because a playstation 2 has USB ports one for keyboard. okay, there is a box with a transmitter that is USB that hooks up to my USB port in the back of my computer. the mouse has a transmitter to send to that USB CONNECTED transmitter, and the same with the keyboard. its a Creative Desktop Wireless 7000 series

OK, now we finally know you have a wireless mouse and keyboard. Based on your title, Wires Optical Mouse Not Working, and comments in the discussion so far, I was under the impression you had a wired optical mouse. But, "Wires" should have been Wireless.

With my Logitech wireless mouse/keyboard combo, I have a "connect" button on bottom of both the mouse and keyboard. The receiver unit also has a connect button. I don't know whether your Creative devices work the same as my Logitech or not. Have you visited Creative's website and searched for info? They may have an FAQ or Knowledge Base in their online support area.

i know it isnt compatible with vista, but it worked when i bought it.

and yes it has a reset button on my mouse, and a connectivity button on my keyboard but none on my receiver. ive searched for FAQs and help. ive updated the drivers, so i dont know. like i said it doesnt even work on my playstation2. im probably best off buying a new set :confused

ok, the connect button on my receiver was hidden. it now works, even wireless is getting to be a pain, ive never had one before haha, thanks guys.
