    got rid of all kinds bugs and viruses. I had a bunch of the allow pop ups bug and a bunch of other crap i think i got cleaned out...i couldn't open any of my files or get into control panel. I would like you to look at my highjack log but i don't know how to attach it. I didn't do run highjack this in safe mode....should i have? I run Internet Explorer and was thinking about going to one of the other browsers and would like your opinion on that...is it going to affect my outlook express? also when i ran the buster it changed my home page from msn to google....is that normal? The only other trouble i seem to have is the java ...when i go to run and type in what it says to i get file can't be found...does this mean i don't have it and what is java for anyway...is it something that you have to have ? sorry for all the questions but i have been searching for 2 days on what to do about these bugs an viruses...was just about ready to do a system restore when i found this place...I sure want to thank you guys for all the help and instructions.

    Before getting to HijackThis logs, please follow all the steps in this Sticky thread < READ ME FIRST: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal >

    If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

    NOTE: In order to resolve the issues you are having it is very important that you at least try to perform all the steps as outlined. If you have any difficulty please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything and details about any problems you have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better.

    After that we will see about HJT. But read this tutorial in this Sticky thread < Hijack This Tutorial And How To Post Your Log File >

    Do not post a HijackThis log until we ask you to and when we do it must be text document attachment to your message. Do not run it from safe mode. Follow our tutorials!

    No, Hijack This in normal mode, follow Chaslangs link to the tutorial.
    Using Firefox does not mean you can not use Outlook Express.
    About:Buster may have changed it or you may have had multiple entries.
    Any errors on removing Java should be ignored, I think thats mentioned in that tutorial.

    Glad it helped out. As Chaslang said, we need to know you did everything in the link to the tutorial on spyware, trojan and virus removal before we ask for a log file.

    yap...did everything it said to do and i think i'm fine here...I followed the link to the place to read the log for me...there wasn't a lot in there and all seems fine now. I did just read that even if you switch browers that IE can still get attacked so what do you ...do you uninstall? The only problem i have now is the java....like i said when i put the file name in and run it...it says file can't be found. just not sure where or what to look for next.

    File not found , as explained in the tutorial, is to be ignored. Slow down and read everything, theres important tidbits in there :) Delete the Internet Explorer icons, that way it can not be easily accessed. Uninstalling it is difficult.

    I'm going to pass on getting that java thing out for now......I do not see any of those folder names when i go in and look...and before I had started any of this cleaning out the bugs and all....my system restore was all ready disabled and it won't enable now...I uncheck the box and then restart...I've done this 4 times now amd after restart go in to look and its still disabled. any suggestions on how i can get it to stay enabled?

    Yes, did you follow the directions to restore it? One problem may be low hard drive sapce, do you have enough?
