What operating system are ye using, and what version of windows media player are you using to play WMA's? or What program are ye using to play the WMA's?

I know this is a lame answer, but, can't ye convert the wma to mp3, then use your equalizer to fix the db level?

What mp3 player? doesn't it have a "Normalise" option?
AudioGrabber will batch convert. Oh and try Ogg Vorbis as a format. The format of the future.
There's a list of freeware here which will probably do what you want. Which is to normalise. http://www.e-soft.co.uk/
