WMM on XP & WMM on Vista

Can someone tell me if windows movie maker on XP is the same version as that on vista, even if its not surely it should read the info stored on the movie maker when transferred over to the different OS, my daughter had some film work done by her students, she edited it using WMM on our desktop using XP pro, then saved it to her memory stick and transferred it on to her laptop running Vista, when she opened WMM there were no clips on the file, anyone please tell me what could have happened?

Thank you for that, typical windows, you would think they wwould be able to read each otheer even when upgraded, she did manage to complete it though, albeit on the XP machine, which was just aas well because if she had finished it on her laptop (Vista OS) her school does not have Vista, thanks once again.
