Okay guys, this one is driving me up a wall. I'm on Vista Home Premium, fully updated etc. WMP 11 all of a sudden is all messed up and I can't find any kind of solution in all my searching.
The problem is that it won't play any video of any kind, including DVD's. I generally use VLC for video anyway, but still. It also won't play any of it's own visualizations- in fact it can't even find them even thought they are all still there in the proper folder, WMP doesn't seem to see them. On top of that the "enhancements" won't work (as in the equalizer, color settings, etc). When I click "show enhancements" the frame at the bottom of the window pops up where they should be, but nothing is there. It has the 2 little arrows for switching between the enhancements and the "x" for closing the pane, but nothing else is in there. No equalizer, nothing. It plays music just fine on the other hand which is really all I use it for since I find VLC kinda cumbersome in this regard and HATE Winamp. I don't mind the missing video so much since I never use it, but I'd really like to have my equalizer and other settings back. It almost seems like it's missing files or maybe some registry entries, but there's no way to repair them since it's integrated into the OS and MS doesn't provide any way to reinstall it other than a full reinstall of Vista (NOT happening).
I've read other places about some fixes for a lot of WMP 11's common problems but none have worked. The only real clue I have is that one of the potential fixes I've come across is to type regsvr 32.dll into the run box or cmd prompt to fix a common dll problem. When I try this I get an error " The module ".dll" failed to load. The specified module could not be found" Odd thing is that when I tried the first time to input this dll the error was different. Gave me error 0x80009 or something to that effect. Sounds like that .dll is either corrupt or missing. Any idea how/where I may be able to fix/ reinstall that .dll, and if that doesn't fix it, any ideas what else may be the culprit? I've also already tried running sfc/scannow to no avail.
TIA, I know it's a wall of text but I'm trying to be thorough in explaining things.

No ideas huh? I was afraid of that, I can't seem to find any help/advice/ideas/solutions anywhere lol. I think I may be the only person in the world with this problem. How typical of me rolleyes
